Finally we arrive. What we discover is 700km (Ed: km!??) away from twon (Ed: Town?). A guy takes my bag and walks up the steep bank for it and tries to charge me loads of dosh. Nicolas my night in shinning armour to the rescue again.
We get a bus (truck with wire cage on back and canvas cover) to the centre of town. Nicolas looks after my bags and sorts out his vietnam visa while I rush to internet to check out if my new friend brenda (kanachabouri tour) has arrived and where she is staying.
After a 20 mins walk with heavy packs we get to where brenda is staying a wonderful guest house with fairy lights everywhere. A money playing on swings a like a miniture deer in the back. Nicolas and I collapse after he gets the swanky 6$ room and i get the pokey damp $4 (I change rooms for a better one tonight).
We have a drink of beer then I shower and meet brenda and discover they do white wine here. I have been craving for ages, so I drink myself into a stupour and wake up with a crooked neck.
Anyhow thats boring... we are in luang probang the one tourist attraction is shut so we go at lunch time and tomorrow morning head for viang viang to do the inner tubes down the river. Then after a day there viatane and vietnam. Am now travelling with brenda and glad of the comapny
Speaks laters.
Well I discover Laos doesn't do collect calls or Pizza before 6. There's not much to do except see a waterfall or cave so instead I watch the rugby as seen so many caves and waterfalls by now. Can't believe Scotalnd played so badly.
Got very drunk watching it with Brenda, Allan (from scotland) and chris fom somerset & london).
Next day its an early bus ride toViang Viang
Posted by alexd at March 21, 2004 05:40 AMits very tricky editing alex, sometimes you know what she's on (about?), and sometimes you don't. And then you have to leave it looking just odd enough so everyone knows it a Dunstan classic (no offense mummy and daddy Dunstan - they will kill me for calling them that, heh!).
But seriously, I'm impressed she's writting so much, its great, and its going to be great for her to come back to as well and relive all those memories, especially once she gets the films developed too.
...and what's all this "my dear friend nick", I stake claim to my honorary title of "little bruv" and don't you forget it "big sis".
