Well, the bad news is the butternut squashes. After 1/3 of them dying almost straight away after being planted out, then another 1/3 of them perishing within a week, they've now all totally gone. :-( Looks like it's mostly slugs, but also a bit of non-nurturing of the plants. Next year, definitely, we pot them up in better soil until they're big and bushy and strong enough to fight off the slimey fiends.
Potatoes looking like they have their first kiss of blight. But on the plus side, I pulled up one of the sad looking plants and got 160g (woo!) of spudlets off it, and they were Quite Nice.
And 150g of broad beans (pre-podded - about 10g once they were beaned out!!). Benjamin thinks they "taste strangely of asparagus". Weird child.
