So... Cight.com, now, as a domain, into its 8th year (about that I think). But maybe not for much longer. I've recently aquired nickholmes.co.uk, and well, it does what it says on the tin, its not random, I don't have to explain it, I dont have to spell it out just so people can find it (well, I'll probably have to mention the 'L' for some people).
But then again, cight has been though thick and thin with me, but the spam is piling high. Maybe I'll use it for something (but not mail).
...any ideas?
In a shocking lack of competence, this evenings premiere of the new Doctor Who series was accidentally voiced over with Graham Norton. Graham Norton was on live before with some 'come dancing fever' show and into the first few minutes of Doctor Who there was a number of overlaps of Norton replying to stage directions.
I've twisted my knee :-(. I was at B&Q early this morning fetching some compost for the garden, some 145 Litre bales (1x2x3ft), and let me tell you, they are fair heavy and a half. So I picked the second one up, and turned to put it on the trolley, and had a big twinge in my left knee, down the right side.
So it wasn't so bad, so I got another, and carried on wandering round the shop. Then it started twinging a bit when pulling the trolley, so I fugured I'd finish up and go home. So I managed to drive without any problems, and got home and then going up stairs it started to really hurt, as in I couldn't keep any weight on it. So with some frozen benjamin food, that he won't eat, and some topical ibuleve, I've been sat on the sofa for a fair few hours watching TV, so its not all bad, except for the searing pain the pops up my leg every once in a while.
Burns night is coming,
the Haggis are getting fat...
Looking forward to my annual Burns supper with a few friends round and a bottle of Malt.
yay !
Just been surfin around, finding new things an old: Updated my londonGeek profile. Found on google I am now below a mis-spelling or two before finding my site, although swamp the yahoo results. Popped in on gavsky, dave "electricsloth" van zijl, and Mr P, 'ur Ben, and still haven't found anything I want to surf.
Today Radio 1 opened itself up to having the listeners pick what they wanted to hear. Good to see they play some stuff I recognise for a change. I particularly liked "the theme to red dwarf", "Dennis Waterman - Theme from Minder" and the chatter around them. Good to see some old school stuff too, queen,, t'pau, guns 'n' roses, "Theme from The Littlest Hobo" :-)
Quite a few unfortunately, I'm hoping its not going to detract too much from being here at ApacheCon, I'm sure it wont. Its only the tutorial days to start with but already I'm happy with the way the conference is panning out.
So, I get here and the place is a building site, as talked about the apachCon grande chief thing whatsit ken coar on his blog.
Well to start with they put me in a room right at the back of the complex (literaly, like the last corner room of the area), but they were nice enough to move me to somewhere closer to the front of the hotel, but its a smoking room (which does smell of smoke), smaller room, with a smaller bed, and a shower not a bath.
Breakfast, which is advertised as a buffet is now restricted to an 'a la carte' items menu as blogged by Rich Bowen. which would have been much more expensive if I'd eaten as much as I'd wanted to first morning, but then I wouldn't have been able to expense that.
Seems that the DNS here at the hotel is pretty flakey. Randomly. you're just surfing about, and then it starts telling you that the document contains no data, then that httpd.apache.org is not available... pfft oh well...
In converation with some of the Apache-rati I was told that the reason they use this place is because it has no gambling on site, meaning something about minors being allowed in. Although also it was suggested that if they had known this rennovation was going on they would not have come here. Maybe next year ehh...
I'm all here and checked in and unpacked.
Found Andre as soon as I walked into reception, then I got put in this room at the back of the complex.
Went out to New York New York, one of the big casinos, Andre wanted to go to see Zumanity - so we went to see if we could get tickets, but there weren't any so we stood around for any cancellations. Then they called out that they had one ticket, and after a while when it looked like we weren't going to get two tickets I said Andre should go get the ticket and see the show. So I went to go loose some money on the slots, then got a cab back to the hotel.
So I got them to change my room, its a smaller one with a smaller bed and its got a shower not a bath, but its near the conference rooms and the front of the hotel. Then I got the, obviously necessary, network enabled and then went to the bar for a nightcap.
exciting ehh...
We went paintballing yesterday and we thought it would be a good idea to blog vicky's lovely bruises. One on the arm:
...and one on the bum
There are others on both of us, but these were the ones the were lovely and rainbow coloured.
